The tale of two pacmans

Paquiao and Solis Saturday April 15th fight is included at the end of this post.
Two PacmansThe Pacmans of  sports are making noise these days in media outlets. Writers and broadcasters alike are taking much time in filtering the right words for each of these Pacmans.

In United States and the NFL lovers, Adam “Pacman” Jones,a prominent cornerback of the Tenesse Titans. He has a career-high 62 tackles, one sack, 1 forced fumble, 12 deflected passes, 4 interceptions, one interception touchdowns, 14 passes defended, 440 punt return yards with 3 punt return touchdowns.

As good as player as he is, Pacman Jones’  off the field issues may lead to the end of his career. He was suspended by the NFL for one year and the awful thing for him is that the NFL Players’ Association have fully supported the vastness of the suspension. Pacman Jones appeal is unlikely to be heard. Also he may no longer be a Titans next year.

There is this Pacman in the other side of the globe and  his countrymen respected him and considered him a hero. His name is Manny “Pacman Pacquiao”.

Born in the Philippines, Manny Pacquiao has become a big name
in the world of boxing by defeating Marco Antonio Barrera, the Mexican Idol, via a TKO in the eleventh round in 2003.

He goes on to fight the respected  Mexican counter puncher, Juan Manuel Marquez, holder of the World Boxing Association (WBA). He crumbled Erik Morales two of their three fights that led him to be reconized not only in Manila but all the boxing spectators around the world.

Saturday night, Pacquiao stopped the undefeated Jorge Solis with a powerful right hand in the seventh round to become the WBC’s No. 1 contender to the flyweight title held by Juan Miguel Marquez. Pacquiao currently holds the WBC International superflyweight belt.

The Pacman of footbal decided to abuse his previleges as an outstanding player. He thought he could do whatever he wants in a club through his enticing dollars.

The Pacman of boxing continues to pursue excellence but his career ain’t over. He can ruin everything if fame and money corrupt his character.

One Pacman breaks the rules of law by using his hands; the other chases victory by the power of his punch.

Here is the Pacquiao vs. Solis fight.
