The Spuracious Spurs: A New Word Is Born
Spuracious. There is no such word as spuracious. There are three search results in Google, one in Yahoo, and none in MSN. Spuracious is a new word that I have to use that describes the ability of the Spurs to stop their opponent’s excellent offense through tenacious and meticulous defense.
Against the hottest finisher in the regular season the Denver Nuggets, the Spurs again are defending effectively especially containing the Allen Iverson and Denver Nuggets. They are controlling the tempo of every game.
Tim Duncan scored 20 points and added 13 rebounds, and Manu Ginobli continuously driving into the basket to break Denver’s defense enroute to a 96-91 victory. Tony Parkers’s penetrations were unstoppable even the defensive player of the year Marcus Camby couldn’t block his tear drop shots.
The game was tied with three more minutes in the third quarter but Robert Horry had stolen an inbound pass then converted a three-pointer to separate themselves 69-64.
Michael Finley added 16 points while Ginobli and Parker have 21 and 19 points respectively.
Allen Iverson had 20 points of a 7-20 shooting and Carmelo Anthony scored 28 points for the Denver Nuggets.
The spuracious Spurs lead the series 2-1.
