Repeat for the Colts?
It’s really hard to tell that the Indianapolis Colts will win the Super Bowl this time. With te New England waiting on the wings, it seems that they will be having difficult times.
The Colts had an unusually busy off-season for a defending champion, losing more than a dozen players from the Super Bowl-winning team. Just weeks after the victory in Miami, basking in the glow was replaced by plugging the holes.
When fans gather for the festivities that surround tonight’s regular-season home opener against the New Orleans Saints, they can look at the familiar visages of Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne gazing down from huge banners around town. But it is the new faces who may determine how much of a chance the Colts have to defend their title.
This is nothing new for a franchise that has been built assiduously through the draft and has watched some of its best talent — most notably, the Pro Bowl running back Edgerrin James — head out the door for greater riches, with no drop-off in results.
