Brady Quinn’s Holdout

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

Brady Quinn fell in the NFL draft. Now he’s falling out of favor with the Cleveland Browns.

The rookie quarterback’s contract holdout dragged into its second week on Friday as Quinn missed his eighth day of training camp with no end in sight. For now, he’s in Arizona working out while negotiations continue.

Meanwhile, Browns general manager Phil Savage expressed disappointment at not being able to finalize a deal with agent Tom Condon. Savage said he “talked briefly” with Quinn’s representatives on Friday but didn’t seem optimistic about a contract being completed anytime soon.

Calvin Johnson

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

Rookie wide receiver Calvin Johnson signed a six-year deal with the Detroit Lions on Friday, ending the No. 2 overall pick’s eight-day holdout.

Johnson’s contract is worth $64 million, with $27.2 million fully guaranteed, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports.

Johnson and the team agreed to terms and signed the contract early Friday, said Lions executive vice president Tom Lewand. He signed the deal just in time for an 8:30 a.m. practice, where he was out catching passes. Moments after signing his contract, the rookie wide receiver found himself on the first team during a two-minute drill.

“I wasn’t surprised. I was expecting to be out there with the first team,” Johnson said. “That’s why they picked me at No. 2.

NBA, NFL, TDF: Three of My Fave Sports In Shamble

Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

I am quite saddened by the fact that my favorite sports are being shaken by scandals.

Though I am not a Michael Vick fan, his indictment is always on the news. In my opinion it is cruelty for the Americans for a person to be indulged in dog fighting. It is not only dog fighting but those dogs are being killed also.

It was disclosed last Friday about the  allegations on Tim Donaghy, former NBA ref,  of putting his bet on the games, and games that he officiated. David Stern,  NBA’s commissioner spoke this morning that the case is isolated. I don’t believe on that. The FBI should investigate also on the 2006 NBA Finals.

Right after watching David Stern’s press conference, then blood transfusion scandal of Alexander Vinoukourov in the Tour de France. As I pointed out in my previous posts that he was the favorite to win. He won the stage 13th individual time trial convincingly. He was tested positive. His whole team,  Astana,  now abandons the  race.

I will still be watching these games especially the Tour de France which will end this weekend.

Jamarcus Russell’s Video In The NFL Draft

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

Still wondering why the Raiders had let go of Randy Moss. Whom does Jamarcus Russel going to throw the ball now? Well, expect the Raiders to be at the bottom again. It would take them three years to rebuild.

And if the Raiders knew that they were trading Moss, why didn’t they pick Calvin Johnson? We can’t judge this decision at the moment but let’s see what will be the impact of Russell. (more…)

The tale of two pacmans

Sunday, April 15th, 2007

Paquiao and Solis Saturday April 15th fight is included at the end of this post.
Two PacmansThe Pacmans of  sports are making noise these days in media outlets. Writers and broadcasters alike are taking much time in filtering the right words for each of these Pacmans.

In United States and the NFL lovers, Adam “Pacman” Jones,a prominent cornerback of the Tenesse Titans. He has a career-high 62 tackles, one sack, 1 forced fumble, 12 deflected passes, 4 interceptions, one interception touchdowns, 14 passes defended, 440 punt return yards with 3 punt return touchdowns.

As good as player as he is, Pacman Jones’  off the field issues may lead to the end of his career. He was suspended by the NFL for one year and the awful thing for him is that the NFL Players’ Association have fully supported the vastness of the suspension. Pacman Jones appeal is unlikely to be heard. Also he may no longer be a Titans next year.

There is this Pacman in the other side of the globe and  his countrymen respected him and considered him a hero. His name is Manny “Pacman Pacquiao”.

Born in the Philippines, Manny Pacquiao has become a big name
