Due to various injuries to both hands and wrists Arron Oberholser withdrew from the BMW Championship after nine holes on Thursday .

The injuries shouldn’t prevent Oberholser from returning later this season. Even though he’s exempt for the 2008 season based on his win at last year’s AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, Oberholser said he is planning to compete in the Fry’s Electronics Open, scheduled Oct. 18-21 during the tour’s Fall Finish.

It’s really hard to tell that the Indianapolis Colts will win the Super Bowl this time. With te New England waiting on the wings, it seems that they will be having difficult times.

The Colts had an unusually busy off-season for a defending champion, losing more than a dozen players from the Super Bowl-winning team. Just weeks after the victory in Miami, basking in the glow was replaced by plugging the holes.

After nearly five years of marriage, Shaquille O’Neal has filed to divorce his wife, Shaunie.

According to court documents, Shaunie should be given primary custody of the children, while Shaquille should get liberal visitation rights.

Phil Mickelson won his 32nd PGA Tour title by two shots at the Deutsche Bank Championship in Norton, Massachusetts, on Monday.
It was the first victory for Mickelson since The Players Championship in May, when he looked ready to make another run at Woods. Then he injured his left wrist that cost him his summer, and only recently has Mickelson been able to swing without flinching.

Marc Warren birdied the second playoff hole Sunday to beat Simon Wakefield and become the first Scottish winner of the Johnnie Walker Championship.

Warren holed a birdie putt on the 18th at Gleneagles to finish with a 69 and get into a playoff with Wakefield, who shot a 70. Both finished at 12-under 280.

In the playoff, both got pars on the first hole. On the second, Warren set up his birdie with a putt from 60 feet that stopped within five feet of the cup.

Lebron James scored 31 points, most by an American player in an Olympic qualifier, and the United States capped its dominance in the desert by beating Argentina 118-81 on Sunday to win the FIBA Americas championship.

Then James and Anthony climbed the podium and were given gold medals — a first for the two players whose international careers had consisted of nothing but bronze.

“I’m tired of bronze,” Anthony said. “I’m speechless right now. This is my first time ever winning the gold medal.”

Dwight Howard made all seven of his shots and scored 20 points, and Anthony added 16 points for the Americans, who were never challenged while winning 10 games in 12 days and will head to Beijing next summer as one of the favorites.

The Americans are headed to Beijing, looking good enough to be golden again.

Carmelo Anthony scored 27 points, Michael Redd had 23, and the United States earned a spot in the 2008 Olympics by crushing Puerto Rico 135-91 on Saturday in the semifinals of the FIBA Americas tournament.

A 78-point second half gave the Americans their third-highest scoring game since they started using pros in 1992. The Dream Team scored 136 points against Cuba in its first game, and the Americans had 137 against Russia in the 1994 world championships final.

James added 19 points and nine assists, Kobe Bryant scored 15 points, and the three stars keyed a dominant third quarter stretch that showed why the Americans will arrive in China as one of the gold medal favorites. Then they headed to the bench, where they sat while fans chanted their names in the final minutes.

I couldn’t believe what I’ve seen, Maria Sharapove lost again.

Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland pulled off the stunning upset, beating the defending U.S. Open champion 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 in a third-round match that took a startling turn Saturday.

Sharapova seemed to take control by winning eight games in a row, giving her a 2-0 lead in the final set. Then, she fell apart and never won again.
